Gutter & Spine – A Poem

I wrote this last week, inspired by a writing workshop I attended.

Gutter & Spine

Caress those words

too tiny for the naked eye:

The secret history writ

on staircased vertebrae.

Winding down

to where all hallways meet:

The drawing room where once

Old foes played out their quests.

Linger in the quiet space

before the page is turned

Breathe on each forgotten verb

etched on opaque vellum.
